We started growing garlic for our own use a few years ago and gradually expanded to growing a larger quantity. From 2011 to 2013 we grew crops of garlic and enjoyed being able to share our delicious fresh Australian garlic further afield.
Prolonged drought has seen us make the decision to plant only enough garlic for our own needs in 2014 due to uncertainty regarding water availability
Once you have tried chemical free, fresh biodynamic garlic we doubt very much you will want to go back to imported supermarket garlic ever again!
Why you should buy Unbleached Australian Garlic
A lot of supermarket garlic is imported from China. Imported garlic has usually been bleached and kept in cold storage for months making it spongy. Imported garlic is treated with methyl bromide and also possibly growth retardants to stop it sprouting. Obviously if you are health conscious you will want to buy our beautiful local chemical free Australian garlic.
Most Australians have never enjoyed the taste of fresh garlic – we hope to change that.
Growing garlic is not for the faint hearted, it is VERY labour intensive which is the reason garlic stopped being grown in Australia some years ago when the market was flooded with cheap imported Chinese garlic. We bother because we value real food grown as nature intended, free of chemicals and grown with love. We bother because we appreciate the joy of growing, preparing and eating fresh vital food and want to share this joy with our customers! We would grow garlic anyway because we love it, but our granite soils and cold winters are ideally suited to growing the best quality garlic making it a well suited crop for our small property and lifestyle.
